Jethro to Release Jethro Acceleration Engine 2.0 with Auto-cubes

New York — September 9, 2016

Jethro, provider of an index-based SQL acceleration engine that makes Business Intelligence (BI) work on Hadoop, is slated to release Jethro 2.0 at the Strata + Hadoop World conference in New York on September 27, 2016. Jethro 2.0 features “auto-cubes,” which are dynamically aggregated micro-cubes that are automatically generated based on actual usage patterns that Jethro learns. The auto-cubes are complementary to Jethro’s full-indexing and intelligent caching, which significantly accelerate the query performance of BI tools and dashboards, consistently and in almost any scenario.

Jethro Query Processing

“The dynamic aggregation is a break-through feature in many aspects,” notes Jethro CTO Boaz Raufman. “Jethro’s dynamic aggregation comprises auto-cubes that are automatically generated based on user activity and are maintained and updated transparently. This technology delivers the great performance value of cubes and pre-aggregation without the cons of standard cubes. Jethro dynamic aggregations eliminate the need for complex cube design, provide unlimited coverage via hundreds of small cubes and allow transparent on-demand support for incremental data load. Dynamic aggregations are complimentary to Jethro indexes. The combination of those two powerful acceleration features enables Jethro to cover a extensive range of use cases and provide interactive response times to BI applications in almost any scenario.”

Jethro Query Processing

In addition to the auto-cubes, Jethro 2.0 also includes increased support for Qlik View and Sense complete with set-analysis-like functionality now standard inside Jethro. The new version also features increased SQL coverage with more mathematical functions as well as complete JOIN.

The Jethro Acceleration Engine lets you keep your data in Hadoop and get the performance of an EDW engine. It is unobtrusively sandwiched between a BI tool and an existing data source. Jethro speeds up BI tool reporting and visualizations by 500%-5000%1 without putting any additional burden on the Hadoop cluster or other data source.

Jethro is a combination of two engines: columnar SQL database and search indexing. Think Impala plus Elastic Search, in one product. It looks and behaves like a SQL engine but leverages the full-indexing engine inside to power blazingly fast queries. It utilizes indexing, smart caching and micro-auto cubes to deliver a consistent interactive BI experience. Jethro seamlessly integrates with BI tools such as Tableau, or Qlik, as well as homegrown SaaS SQL BI dashboards. Jethro can connect to almost any storage system such as Hadoop, Amazon and other EFSs.

New York, NY — October 21, 2015

Jethro, provider of an index-based SQL engine developed for the unique requirements of business intelligence (BI), today announced the release of a beta version exclusively for Tableau. “Jethro for Tableau” is crafted specifically for Tableau users whose database performance paralyzes their dashboards and workbooks because their big data, typically multi-billion-row tables and beyond, is too big to visualize in-memory. Jethro for Tableau acts as an acceleration layer that speeds up queries to real-time speeds so that Tableau visualizations display 500% to 5000% faster.1 This speed increase empowers Tableau users to interactively analyze big data in order to gain crucial business insights. The software will be available at the Tableau Conference on October 19th in Las Vegas, NV.

The Jethro for Tableau acceleration layer is unobtrusively sandwiched between Tableau and the existing data source and speeds up Tableau visualizations by 500%-5000%* without putting any additional burden on the data source. Architecturally, Jethro for Tableau is a SQL engine that combines indexing technology, a modern column store database design and intelligent caching into a unified solution that addresses the growing business need for storing vast amounts of data while delivering lightning-fast queries. It transparently integrates with Tableau through a standard ODBC/JDBC interface and is compatible with any storage system such as Hadoop, Amazon and other EFSs.

“Jethro for Tableau combines the strengths of Tableau’s excellent analytics and visualization with the exceptional speed of a full-index data engine,” notes Eli Singer, CEO, Jethro. “This fusion delivers a novel tool that will enable customers to expand the use of their Tableau to datasets that are of a larger and ever-growing magnitude of order.”

This latest funding round will be used to increase investment in sales, marketing and development of Jethro’s unique technology.

“Eli and the amazing team at Jethro are bringing a revolutionary technology to enterprises. Hadoop users have gained great scale and cost effective storage, largely at the expense of performance. With Jethro, enterprises quickly see improved performance, making Hadoop a viable enterprise infrastructure,” said Arad Naveh, partner with Square Peg Capital. “There is a huge market opportunity for interactive BI and fast SQL-on-Hadoop. We are proud to back Jethro and the company’s breakthrough solution.”

This funding round follows closely on the heels of the general availability of Jethro’s unique SQL-on-Hadoop software, which uses indexes to query data up to 100 times faster than alternative SQL on Hadoop solutions. Jethro works with popular business intelligence (BI) solutions, including Qlik, Tableau and MicroStrategy, to enable faster access to data and allow for true interactive BI.

“Business intelligence is still hampered in the big data world by slow access to Hadoop data. Jethro solves that issue, allowing BI on big data at a speed that users currently experience with their EDW systems,” said Eli Singer, co-founder and CEO, Jethro. “Jethro is empowering enterprises to gain insights at the speed of business.  With the support of Square Peg and Pitango, we’re bringing interactive BI on big data to the enterprise.”

Jethro combines search engine indexing technology with modern column store database design to create a single solution. Jethro Announces General Availability of Its Solution for Accelerating BI on Hadoop

Revolutionary SQL-on-Hadoop engine enables Business Intelligence tools to query large tables in Hadoop in real-time

New York, NY — April 07, 2015

JethroData, provider of the fastest SQL-on-Hadoop solution in the market, today announced the general availability of its flagship software. A major innovation delivering up to 100 times faster queries, JethroData’s unique indexing technology enables companies to harvest their Big Data at the speed of business. JethroData works with popular business intelligence (BI) solutions, including Qlik, Tableau and MicroStrategy to enable their users faster access to analyze their Big Data in Hadoop.

Unique Architecture Enables Truly Interactive Business Intelligence on Hadoop

JethroData’s unique vision combines search engine indexing technology with modern column store database design into a single solution. The resulting product addresses the growing business need for storing vast amounts of data while providing lightning-fast queries. JethroData’s breakthrough full-indexing technology enables BI users to enjoy interactive responses with Big Data. JethroData works seamlessly with any BI tool through a standard ODBC/JDBC interface, and is compatible with Hadoop distributions from Cloudera, Hortonworks, MapR and Amazon.

“Big Data users need to focus in on specific slices of diverse data sources which are useful for answering business questions without losing sight of the bigger picture. Qlik’s products are about building these specific apps downstream from the big data system,” said Les Bonney, COO at Qlik, a JethroData partner. “JethroData brings significant performance advances to accessing data in Hadoop, which combined with the Qlik associative experience, will enable our customers to continue discovering business value from their data – regardless of the variety or volume.”

“Our query performance on big data residing in Hadoop has improved dramatically since we started using JethroData,” said Slava Borodovsky, Senior Director of Business Intelligence at Fiverr and a JethroData customer since 2014. “This validates our initial belief that JethroData is the superior approach to other solutions we have tried. We are now implementing JethroData in our BI infrastructure to give us better insights into Fiverr users’ behavior.”

“Until today, customers using Hadoop benefited from its great scalability but had to sacrifice query performance,” said Eli Singer, JethroData’s co-founder and CEO. “This made Hadoop unsuitable for interactive BI, requiring companies to maintain an enterprise data warehouse (EDW) in parallel to their Hadoop infrastructure. The release of JethroData in GA now allows enterprises to benefit from both worlds: Big Data and lightning-fast querying, using one infrastructure: Hadoop.”
